Krabi 4 Island Tour — Speedboat Day Trip with Halal-Friendly Lunch
Last updated: May 2026

Stepping off the speedboat at Poda Island, the water at your ankles is so clear it looks like the boat is floating on glass. Behind you, the limestone cliffs of mainland Krabi rise out of the sea. Ahead, the white sand stretches under coconut palms toward a beach buffet being set up in the shade. This is the Krabi 4 Island Tour — and the speedboat version means you get here in minutes, not after an hour of bouncing in a longtail.
Group day tour from Ao Nang to Krabi's four most photographed islands — Phra Nang Cave Beach (Railay), Chicken Island, the Sand Bar at Tup–Mor, and Poda Island for lunch. Speedboat both ways. Halal-friendly beach buffet included. English-speaking guide on the boat. Snorkel gear provided. Pickup from Ao Nang hotels between 8:00 and 8:30 AM. Back to your hotel by approximately 4:00 PM.
From ฿1,100 per person (adult) — ฿900 child (4–11). National Park Fee ฿200 adult / ฿100 child paid in cash directly to the park ranger at the pier (we do not collect or mark up this fee). Same morning you can be on a beach that feels like it belongs to you. Book on WhatsApp +66 89 949 6235 — confirmation typically within 15 minutes during business hours. Krabi 4 Island Tour — Speedboat Day Trip with Halal-Friendly Lunch

Highlights:
- Phra Nang Cave Beach — the iconic Railay beach with towering limestone cliffs, a Buddhist fertility shrine in a small cave, and (when the longtails clear out) one of the most photographed beaches in Thailand.
- Chicken Island (Koh Kai) — named for its rock formation that looks unmistakably like a chicken's head and neck. Snorkel stop with vibrant coral reef and tropical fish in clear shallow water.
- Sand Bar at Talay Waek — at low tide a narrow strip of perfect white sand appears in the sea, connecting Tup, Mor and Chicken islands so you can walk between them through the water.
- Poda Island — the lunch stop. The largest of the four islands, with a kilometre of soft white sand, shallow swimming water, and shade under casuarina trees.
- Halal-friendly buffet lunch on Poda — Thai dishes prepared with Muslim travellers in mind. Confirm at booking.
- National Park Fee disclosed upfront — ฿200 adult / ฿100 child paid in cash at the pier directly to the ranger. We never collect or mark up this fee.
- Speedboat transfer — fast, less seasick than longtail, easier to board, better for older travellers and anyone with back or mobility concerns.

The most common complaint about the Krabi 4 Island tour on Tripadvisor and travel blogs is being surprised at the pier by a National Park Entrance Fee that wasn't mentioned at booking. Multiple reviews describe the same scene: the boat is loaded, bags are packed, and then a guide announces an extra ฿200 per person before you can board. Our policy is the opposite — we tell you about the fee at booking, we tell you again the night before, and you pay the park ranger directly in cash. We do not collect or mark up this fee at any stage.
The second most common complaint is the longtail boat itself: cramped, slow, with passengers boarding wet from the beach and reviewers describing it as 'an ordeal' for older travellers or anyone with back issues. We use a speedboat — faster between islands, more seating space, and significantly easier boarding. The longtail is photogenic; the speedboat is what gets you to four islands comfortably in one day.

- ⏰ PICKUP IS A SHARED TRANSFER — driver cannot wait for late guests. Be in your hotel lobby by 8:00 AM at the latest. Reviews of competitor tours consistently include guests being left behind because they were 5 minutes late. The speedboat at the pier departs at 9:00 AM with or without latecomers.
- 📍 Pickup zone is Ao Nang area only. We do not pick up from Railay Beach (boat-only access), Krabi Town, Klong Muang, or Tub Kaek. If your hotel is outside Ao Nang, please arrange your own transfer to an Ao Nang hotel or contact us before booking to discuss alternatives.
- 💵 National Park Fee ฿200 adult / ฿100 child paid in cash at the pier directly to the park ranger. Bring exact change. This is a government conservation fee, not a Trip Thai Tour charge — every operator pays it the same way.
- 🌊 Sand Bar at Talay Waek is tide-dependent. The walking-between-islands experience only happens at low tide. The boat still passes the islands at high tide but the sandbar may be partially submerged. We cannot guarantee the exact tidal state on any given day.
- 🌧️ Monsoon season (May–October) the tour operates on a weather-dependent basis. If the harbourmaster declares weather unsafe, the tour is cancelled and you receive a full refund or reschedule.
- 🏛️ Phra Nang Cave is small and often crowded with longtails arriving at the same time. Most guests skip the cave queue and enjoy the beach instead. Honest expectation-setting: the beach is the prize, the cave is small.
- 👶 Children under 4 travel free on a parent's lap (no separate seat). Children 4–11 pay ฿900. Children above 12 pay adult price.
- 🥗 Halal-friendly lunch must be confirmed at the time of booking so the supplier kitchen can prepare appropriately. Same applies for vegetarian or other dietary needs.
What to Bring — Don't Forget These
- • Swimwear worn under your clothes — the speedboat boards from the pier but you may need to wade in shallow water to reach some islands
- • A quick-dry towel from your hotel — towels are not provided
- • Reef-safe sunscreen SPF 50+ — the sun on the open boat is intense even in cloudy weather
- • A waterproof phone pouch or dry bag — recommended for valuables on the speedboat
- • Hat and sunglasses — there is shade under the boat canopy but most stops are open beaches
- • Cash in Thai Baht — exact change preferred for the National Park Fee (฿200/adult, ฿100/child) and small purchases on the islands
- • Snorkel fins if you prefer them — mask and life jacket provided, fins not provided
- • Light cover-up for the air-conditioned minivan ride — the journey home can feel cold after a sunny day
- • Your camera — Phra Nang Cave Beach, the Sand Bar, and Poda Island are among the most photographed locations in Thailand

Why Choose Us?
- 🗣️ English-speaking guide on every boat — group join speedboat means you share the boat with up to 25 other travellers, but the guide explains each island in clear English and is on board the entire day to answer questions. Reviews of competitor tours consistently flag bad English as the #1 complaint.
- ✅ TAT Licensed operator No. 14/04232 — independently verifiable at tourismthailand.org. You are booking with a registered Thai tour operator, not an unverified street-corner stand or an aggregator reseller.

What Actually Happens
Hotel pickup at 8:00–8:30 AM — Ao Nang only, driver cannot wait
Your shared minivan pulls up at your Ao Nang hotel lobby between 8:00 and 8:30 AM. The exact time depends on the route the driver takes through the area's other pickups — most groups are picked up between 8:00 and 8:15 AM. You should be in the lobby with your bag packed, swimwear under your clothes, and cash for the National Park Fee in your pocket by 8:00 AM at the latest.
This matters more than it sounds. The shared minivan is on a tight schedule, and the speedboat at Nopparat Thara Pier departs at 9:00 AM sharp regardless of who is on board. Reviews of every competitor tour include the same story — guests who came down at 8:35, found the minivan gone, and spent the morning trying to track down a refund. We do not want this to happen to you, which is why we are saying it three times: be in the lobby by 8:00 AM.
The pickup is from Ao Nang area only. If you are staying at Railay Beach, Krabi Town, Klong Muang, or Tub Kaek, this group transfer cannot collect you. Railay specifically is boat-only access — there are no roads. Guests staying at Railay should arrange their own longtail transfer to Ao Nang the evening before, or contact us at booking to discuss alternatives. The drive from your hotel to Nopparat Thara Pier takes 10 to 20 minutes depending on which Ao Nang street you are on. Use the journey to apply your sunscreen — the sun on the open speedboat is more intense than guests expect.
Phra Nang Cave Beach — limestone cliffs, fertility shrine, and the beach behind the cave
The first stop is Phra Nang Cave Beach on the southern tip of Railay. The speedboat anchors offshore and you wade through ankle-deep water onto a beach that feels like it was carved from the inside of a postcard — towering limestone karst cliffs on three sides, the open Andaman Sea on the fourth, soft white sand under your feet.
The cave itself is on the eastern end of the beach and contains a small Buddhist shrine dedicated to the spirit of a princess who, according to local legend, drowned here centuries ago. Thai fishermen still leave offerings of incense, garlands, and (the part that surprises every first-time visitor) carved wooden phalluses, in the belief that the princess grants fertility to those who pray sincerely. It is a small cave and gets crowded quickly with longtails arriving at the same time. Honestly: most of our guests glance into the cave for a minute, then spend the rest of the half hour on the beach itself, which is the real attraction.
The water at Phra Nang is shallow and exceptionally clear. The cliff backdrop makes every photograph look professional. The 30 minutes you have here is enough to walk the beach end to end, take photos at the cave, swim if you want, and watch the Thai longtail boats arrive in their colourful procession. Then back to the speedboat for the next stop.
Chicken Island and the Sand Bar — snorkelling and a walk between islands at low tide
The speedboat heads northwest from Railay toward Chicken Island (Koh Kai), named for the rock formation at its eastern tip that looks unmistakably like a chicken's head and neck rising from the sea. You will probably take more photos of this rock than any other single thing on the tour — the resemblance is genuinely uncanny, and at the right angle the chicken even appears to be looking at you.
The boat anchors in the snorkel zone between Chicken Island and the smaller Tup and Mor Islands. Mask and life jacket are provided. The reef here is in clear shallow water — three to five metres deep — and the fish are plentiful: parrotfish, sergeant majors, butterflyfish, and the occasional cuttlefish. Twenty to thirty minutes in the water, with the speedboat crew watching from above, is enough to remember why people come to the Andaman Sea in the first place.
After snorkelling, the boat moves to the Sand Bar — locally called Talay Waek, meaning 'separated sea'. This is the natural phenomenon that defines the tour. At low tide a narrow strip of perfect white sand appears between Tup, Mor, and Chicken Islands, connecting them so you can walk through ankle-deep water from one island to another. At high tide the sandbar is partially or fully submerged. Tide times vary day by day — your guide will tell you on the morning what to expect. Even at higher tide the islands themselves are stunning to approach by boat. If the sandbar is exposed, walk it slowly. It is one of those rare natural moments that photographs cannot quite capture.
Poda Island — lunch on the beach, the longest swim, the calmest moment of the day
By 12:30 PM the speedboat lands at Poda Island, the largest and quietest of the four. The beach here stretches for nearly a kilometre under casuarina trees, the water is shallow for fifty metres out, and the sand is the softest of any stop on the tour. This is where lunch is served — a Thai beach buffet laid out under the trees on long tables, with shade from the casuarinas and the sea breeze keeping the temperature manageable even at midday.
The buffet typically includes Thai green curry, stir-fried vegetables, fried rice, grilled chicken or fish, fresh tropical fruit, and bottled water. If you have notified us at booking that you require halal-friendly preparation, the supplier kitchen prepares the meal accordingly — meat sourced from halal vendors, no pork, no alcohol-based sauces. Tell us at booking, not on the morning, so this can be confirmed. Vegetarian and Indian-style adjustments are also possible with advance notice.
After lunch you have approximately one to one-and-a-half hours of free time on Poda. Most guests use it for swimming, beach walking, or simply lying in the shade with a book. The water at Poda is the best for casual swimming on the entire tour — calm, clear, shallow for a long way out, and warm. Children love it. Couples photograph it. Solo travellers nap under the casuarinas. There is no rush. The speedboat departs from Poda for the return journey at approximately 3:00 PM, and the crew gathers everyone fifteen minutes before departure.
Return to Ao Nang — back at your hotel by 4:00 PM
The speedboat leaves Poda Island at approximately 3:00 PM and runs the 30-minute return crossing to Nopparat Thara Pier. This is the calmest part of the day on the boat — most guests are tired, sun-warmed, and content. The wind is cooler on the return because the sun has shifted and the boat moves with the current.
At the pier the shared minivan is waiting to take you back to your hotel. Drop-offs happen in the order that makes sense for the route, so depending on which Ao Nang street your hotel is on, you may be back at your hotel anywhere between 3:45 and 4:15 PM. The minivan is air-conditioned — bring a light cover-up if you feel the cold after a sunny day on the water.
By 4:00 PM you are back in your hotel with the entire evening still ahead of you. Plenty of time for a shower, a walk to dinner along Ao Nang Beach Road, a Thai massage at one of the dozens of shops in the area, or simply a sunset on the beach with a cold drink. The Krabi 4 Island Tour is designed as a full day that ends in time to enjoy the rest of your evening — not the kind of tour that returns you exhausted at 7:00 PM.
Is This Right for You?
✦ First-time visitors to Krabi
Yes — this is the tour to do first. Krabi's defining landscape is the limestone karst cliffs rising from turquoise sea, and the 4 Island Tour shows you that landscape from every angle in a single day. You will leave understanding why people return to Krabi for years afterward.
✦ Families with children
Yes — children love this tour. The speedboat is faster and more comfortable than longtail, the snorkelling near Chicken Island is in shallow safe water, the Sand Bar is genuinely magical for kids, and Poda Island's calm shallow swimming water is perfect for younger children. Pricing: child (4–11) ฿900, under 4 free on parent's lap. Tell us at booking if you need life jackets in child sizes.
✦ Couples and honeymooners
Yes — Phra Nang Cave Beach and the Sand Bar at Talay Waek are among the most photographed locations in Thailand. The shared speedboat means you are on a boat with other travellers, but each island stop gives you space and time for your own photographs. For complete privacy on the boat itself, contact us about our upcoming private speedboat option.
✦ Older travellers and guests with mobility concerns
Yes — and this is exactly why we chose speedboat over longtail. Boarding a longtail from the beach is wet, slippery, and difficult for anyone with a back issue or limited mobility. The speedboat boards from the pier on stable footing and has proper seating with backrests for the journey. Tell us at booking if anyone in your group has specific mobility needs.
✦ Muslim travellers and guests requiring halal food
Yes — the lunch buffet on Poda Island is prepared halal-friendly when notified at booking. Most Krabi 4 Island tour operators list 'lunch included' with no information about preparation; ours is specifically prepared with Muslim travellers in mind, with halal-sourced meat, no pork, and no alcohol-based sauces. Confirm at booking, not on the morning.
✦ Solo travellers
Yes — group join speedboat is ideal for solo travellers because the cost is per person rather than per boat, you share the day with up to 25 other travellers (a friendly atmosphere on the boat), and the guide handles everyone equally. No single supplement applies.
What Our Guests Say
"We chose Trip Thai Tour over Klook because the page actually told us about the National Park Fee upfront — every other operator hid it. Pickup was on time, speedboat was fast and comfortable, lunch on Poda was excellent. The Sand Bar at low tide was the photo of the trip. Honest operator, no surprises."
"Three kids aged 6, 9 and 12. The speedboat was the right choice — the longtail would have been miserable for the youngest. Snorkel near Chicken Island was the highlight for our 9-year-old. Halal lunch on Poda was prepared exactly as we asked when we booked. Driver was on time at 8:10 AM. Back at our hotel by 4:00 PM as promised."
"Booked the day before on WhatsApp, confirmation in 10 minutes, picked up at 8:15 AM, on the boat by 9. The four islands are everything Krabi promises — Phra Nang Cave Beach, the Sand Bar walk between Tup and Chicken, and Poda for lunch was the calmest part of my Thailand trip. Solo traveller note: friendly atmosphere on the speedboat, no awkward solo dynamics."

Questions
The Krabi 4 Island Tour is the most popular day trip from Ao Nang, visiting four iconic islands of the Hat Noppharat Thara – Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park: Phra Nang Cave Beach (on Railay), Chicken Island (Koh Kai), the Sand Bar at Tup–Mor Islands (Talay Waek), and Poda Island.
Our version uses a speedboat (faster and more comfortable than the traditional longtail) and runs as a full day from Ao Nang, departing at 9:00 AM and returning to your hotel by approximately 4:00 PM. Lunch is included on Poda Island, halal-friendly when notified at booking. Read the full island-by-island guide on our complete Krabi 4 Island Tour blog post.
The Krabi 4 Island Tour is ฿1,100 per adult and ฿900 per child (4–11) on the group speedboat package. Children under 4 travel free on a parent's lap (no separate seat).
The price includes: hotel pickup from Ao Nang area, return speedboat transfer, all four island stops, halal-friendly beach buffet lunch on Poda Island, snorkelling mask, life jacket, English-speaking guide, bottled water, and fresh fruit on the boat. The National Park Entrance Fee (฿200 adult / ฿100 child) is NOT included — see the next FAQ for details.
The National Park Entrance Fee (฿200 per foreign adult, ฿100 per foreign child, ฿40 per Thai adult, ฿20 per Thai child) is NOT included in the tour price and is paid in cash directly to the park ranger at Nopparat Thara Pier on the morning of the tour. Bring exact change in Thai Baht.
We do not collect or mark up this fee — it goes directly to the Thai Department of National Parks for conservation of the islands. Disclosing this fee upfront is one reason guests choose us over operators who quote a low headline price and then surprise visitors at the pier. The fee is a Thai government conservation charge and applies regardless of which operator you book with.
Pickup is between 8:00 and 8:30 AM from your Ao Nang hotel lobby. Be ready and waiting in the lobby by 8:00 AM at the latest. The shared minivan picks up multiple groups in sequence and the speedboat at the pier departs at 9:00 AM sharp regardless of who is on board.
The driver cannot wait for late guests on a shared transfer. If you miss the pickup, the tour cannot be refunded as the boat will already be loaded. Reviews of every Krabi tour operator include the same complaint from guests who came down at 8:35 — please be in your lobby by 8:00 AM.
No — this group transfer picks up from Ao Nang area hotels only. We do not pick up from Railay Beach (which is boat-only access with no roads), Krabi Town, Klong Muang, Tub Kaek, or any other area outside Ao Nang. This is a deliberate operational choice to keep the shared minivan on schedule for the 9:00 AM boat departure.
If you are staying at Railay, the standard solution is to take an early longtail from Railay to Ao Nang Beach the morning of the tour (or move to an Ao Nang hotel the night before). If you are staying at Krabi Town, Klong Muang, or Tub Kaek, contact us before booking to discuss alternatives — we may be able to help arrange a private transfer at additional cost.
We use speedboat. Longtail is the iconic Thai boat and is more atmospheric for photographs, but reviews on Tripadvisor consistently flag the longtail tour as cramped, slow, hard to board from the beach (you wade in wet), uncomfortable for older travellers or anyone with a bad back, and typically wet throughout the day.
The speedboat reaches each island in 10–15 minutes (vs 30–45 minutes by longtail), boards from the pier (not from the beach), has proper seating with backrests, and is significantly easier for families with children, older travellers, and anyone with mobility concerns. The full speedboat-vs-longtail comparison is in our Krabi 4 Island guide.
Yes — halal-friendly lunch is available when notified at the time of booking. The beach buffet on Poda Island is prepared with Muslim travellers in mind: halal-sourced meat, no pork, no alcohol-based sauces. We confirm with the supplier kitchen before your tour day so the preparation is correct.
This must be confirmed at booking — not on the morning of the tour, when the supplier kitchen has already finalised the day's menu. Vegetarian and Indian-style adjustments are also possible with advance notice. Tell us at booking exactly what your group requires.
Yes — this is one of the best tours in Krabi for families. The speedboat is faster and more comfortable than longtail (much better for young children). Snorkelling near Chicken Island is in shallow safe water with mask and life jacket provided. The Sand Bar walk between three islands is genuinely magical for children. Poda Island has the calmest, shallowest swimming water of the day.
Pricing: child (4–11) ฿900, children under 4 free on a parent's lap, children 12+ pay adult price (฿1,100). Bring child-sized snorkelling and swimwear. Tell us at booking if you need life jackets in specific child sizes.
The Sand Bar between Tup, Mor and Chicken Islands is tide-dependent. At low tide a narrow strip of perfect white sand is exposed and you can walk between the three islands through ankle-deep water — this is the iconic 'Talay Waek' (separated sea) experience that defines the tour. At high tide the sandbar may be partially or fully submerged.
Tide times vary daily by approximately 50 minutes. The tour timing aims for the best tidal window, but exact tide state on any given day is not guaranteed. Even at higher tide the islands themselves are stunning and the boat passes between them. If you specifically want to walk the sandbar, ask us at booking about which dates have the best tidal alignment for your travel window.
Essentials: swimwear under your clothes, quick-dry towel from your hotel (towels not provided), reef-safe sunscreen SPF 50+, hat and sunglasses, a waterproof phone pouch or dry bag, and cash in Thai Baht for the National Park Fee (exact change preferred — ฿200 adult / ฿100 child).
Useful extras: snorkel fins if you prefer them (mask provided, fins not provided), a light cover-up for the air-conditioned minivan ride home, and your camera (Phra Nang Cave Beach, the Sand Bar, and Poda Island are among Thailand's most photographed locations).
Yes, the tour operates year-round, but May to October is monsoon season and weather conditions can be unpredictable. The harbourmaster has authority to declare the sea unsafe for departure on any given morning, in which case the tour is cancelled and you receive a full refund or reschedule at no extra cost.
Best season is November to April — calm seas, clear skies, exceptional water visibility for snorkelling. Peak season is December to February. We operate every day weather allows. Same-day bookings are usually possible if you contact us before 6:00 PM the previous evening.
Yes — the Krabi 4 Island Tour is a single full day from Ao Nang, leaving you free for other activities on different days. Popular Krabi pairings include Hong Islands tour, James Bond Island day trip, Tiger Cave Temple, and Emerald Pool / Krabi Hot Springs.
Most travellers staying 3+ days in Krabi build a multi-day itinerary around the 4 Island Tour. See our Krabi tour packages for full multi-day options that combine the 4 Islands with Hong Islands, Phi Phi, Tiger Cave Temple and Krabi Hot Springs — all with Ao Nang hotel pickup included.
A cancellation fee of 100% applies if the booking is cancelled 2 days (48 hours) or less before the tour date. For cancellations made more than 2 days in advance, please contact us via WhatsApp to arrange a refund or reschedule.
Weather-related cancellations: if the harbourmaster declares conditions unsafe for departure, you receive a full refund or reschedule at no extra cost. We do not cancel confirmed bookings due to low numbers — your booking runs as confirmed.
