The lanterns above the cobbled street come on around 6:30 PM, exactly as the last of the daylight drains out of the sky over the lake. You are sitting at an outdoor table on what looks like a side street in a Tuscan village, in a country where the alphabet is Thai and the temperature an hour ago was 34 degrees. This is Chocolate Ville in Bangkok's Khan Na Yao district — the city's most photographed open-air restaurant village, built like a film set, lit up after dark, and almost impossible to reach without a private driver who will wait.

Our private evening transfer covers exactly that: door-to-door hotel pickup at 3:00 PM, a 30 to 45-minute drive to Chocolate Ville, 6 to 8 hours of waiting time included while you eat and walk and photograph, and the return drive to your hotel whenever you are ready to leave. SUV for groups up to 4. Private van for groups up to 9. Same flat rate either way.

Book with Trip Thai Tour at ฿2,500 per vehicle. The ฿150 Chocolate Ville entry is paid directly at the gate — ฿100 of that becomes a credit toward food, drinks or ice cream inside, so the real cost is ฿50 per person. Open every day of the year. WhatsApp +66 89 949 6235 to confirm your pickup time.

Chocolate Ville is the easiest Bangkok evening to underestimate before you arrive and the easiest one to recommend to friends afterwards. There is no equivalent in central Bangkok — no rooftop bar, no Sukhumvit restaurant, no shopping mall food court replicates the open-air village atmosphere of cobbled streets, a working lake, lighthouse, and dozens of independent restaurants under fairy lights. It is the closest experience Bangkok has to dinner inside a European town square, located 18 kilometres from Sukhumvit on Prasert-Manukitch Road in the Khan Na Yao district.

The two real obstacles to enjoying it are getting there and getting back. Grab to Chocolate Ville is straightforward from central Bangkok in the afternoon — ฿250 to ฿400 one way — but the return is the problem. By 9 PM the Khan Na Yao area has very limited Grab coverage. Visitors who arrive without a return plan routinely wait 30 to 60 minutes for a ride or queue at the venue's taxi stand. Booking a private driver who waits on-site for the full evening removes the entire problem.

Our service is uncomplicated: ฿2,500 flat for the vehicle — SUV for up to 4, van for up to 9, depending on your group size. Pickup at 3:00 PM from any Bangkok hotel. Driver waits 6 to 8 hours on-site. Return to your hotel any time before midnight. The ฿150 entry fee is paid at the gate — your call which of the redeemable options you spend the ฿100 on inside.

Please note - Read Important (Click to expand)
  • Chocolate Ville is open every day of the year. Weekday hours are 3:00 PM to midnight. Weekend hours (Saturday, Sunday and Thai public holidays) are 2:00 PM to midnight.
  • Restaurant seating is first-come, first-served — we do not pre-book your table. The village holds thousands of diners across multiple restaurants and seating in the afternoon and early evening is rarely a problem. After 7 PM on weekends, expect to wait for the most popular tables.
  • The ฿150 entry fee is paid at the gate by each guest. ฿100 of that becomes a voucher redeemable inside for food, drinks, ice cream, or one of the venue's activities — applied during the same visit only.
  • Drinks at Chocolate Ville restaurants are priced at a moderate premium — non-alcoholic from approximately ฿80, alcoholic from approximately ฿180.
  • Chocolate Ville is suitable for all ages including infants and very young children. Strollers can be used on the main pedestrian streets — most surfaces are cobblestone but flat.
  • Photography is free anywhere in the village. There are no commercial photo packages required and no photo-prohibited areas in the public spaces.
  • The village is open-air. In the rainy season (May to October) bring a light umbrella — covered seating is available but the streets and lake are exposed.

What to Bring — Don't Forget These

  • ✅ Comfortable shoes — cobblestone streets are flat but you will walk between restaurants and around the lake
  • ✅ Light clothing for Bangkok evening heat — temperatures stay 28–32°C even after dark, especially March to October
  • ✅ A light cover-up or shawl — air-conditioned vehicle, but the village itself is open-air
  • ✅ Your camera or phone — Chocolate Ville is one of the most photographed spots in Bangkok, especially at dusk
  • ✅ Cash for the ฿150 entry fee per person — most restaurants and shops also accept cards
  • ✅ A small umbrella — useful May to October when afternoon and evening rain showers are common
  • ✅ Your hotel address written down for the driver — helps with smooth pickup and drop-off coordination
  • 💡 TIMING TIP: The lanterns and fairy lights come on around 6:30 PM. The best photographs are taken in the 30-minute window from 6:15 to 6:45 PM as the sky darkens and the lights intensify.
  • 💡 BUDGET TIP: A typical dinner for two with drinks costs ฿800 to ฿1,500 across most of the village's restaurants. Use your ฿100 entry voucher per person on your dinner bill — apply it before paying.

    What Actually Happens

    1

3:00 PM hotel pickup — why this exact time matters

Your private SUV or van arrives at your Bangkok hotel lobby at 3:00 PM. The drive to Chocolate Ville covers approximately 18 to 22 kilometres from central Bangkok to Khan Na Yao district in the northeast — between 30 and 45 minutes depending on the day and the specific time of the afternoon you depart. You arrive at the Chocolate Ville gate between 3:30 and 3:45 PM. This pickup time is not a preference. It is the operational requirement for the evening to work as well as it possibly can. Chocolate Ville opens at 3:00 PM on weekdays and 2:00 PM on weekends. The first scheduled performances — the snow show on the lighthouse square, the bubble parade, the LED boat show on the lake, and the daily birthday surprise where a live band sings Happy Birthday to whoever is celebrating — start running from approximately 4:00 PM through the evening. Arriving before 4:00 PM means you walk the entire village in daylight, understand the layout, choose where you want to eat, and have time for the first walk before any show starts. Arriving after 5:00 PM means the village is already partly busy, restaurants are filling, and the daylight is starting to soften. The night before your tour, your driver sends a WhatsApp message confirming the pickup time and their vehicle details. At 3:00 PM they are in your hotel lobby. The drive itself is straightforward — out of central Bangkok onto Ramintra Road, then onto Prasert-Manukitch Road, with the entrance to Chocolate Ville clearly signposted on the right. By the time families who booked Grab arrive at 5:30 PM after a 45-minute pickup wait, you have already walked the lighthouse square, photographed the lake in daylight, and chosen your restaurant for the evening.

    2

The village in daylight — your first walk before dinner (4:00–5:00 PM)

You enter Chocolate Ville through the main gate after paying the ฿150 entry fee per person — a transaction at the ticket window that takes less than two minutes. Each ticket comes with a ฿100 voucher attached. This voucher is the entry fee's redeemable portion — usable inside the village during the same visit for food at a restaurant, drinks at a kiosk, ice cream, popcorn, or one of the venue's small activities. Your real out-of-pocket entry cost is ฿50 per person. We say this upfront because every visitor asks the same question on arrival, and most other operators do not bother to explain it. What you see first is a cobbled street that looks like a quiet European town square — three or four storeys of pastel-coloured buildings with arched windows and wrought-iron balconies, a lighthouse rising above the rooftops to one side, and a lake stretching ahead through the centre of the village. The streets are pedestrian-only. Cars are absent. The whole place is built to be walked. Use this first hour to map the village. Walk one full loop. The main spaces are the lighthouse square, the lakefront, the bridge over the lake, the row of larger restaurants along the back side, and the smaller food courts and kiosks scattered between. Each restaurant displays its menu on a stand outside the entrance — Thai, Italian, Japanese, steak houses, seafood specialists, dessert bars. Photograph the buildings while the daylight is still good. Pick the restaurant that suits your appetite. Decide which spot you want to be sitting at when the lights come on. By 5:00 PM, you have your evening planned, you have walked off the heat from the journey, and you are ready to slow down and eat.

    3

Dinner as the sky darkens — order direct, pay direct (5:00–7:00 PM)

Most visitors sit down for dinner between 5:30 and 6:30 PM. Restaurant seating across the village is first-come, first-served. We do not pre-book your table. In practical terms, this is rarely a problem — the village holds thousands of diners across more than twenty restaurants and kiosks, and seating in the early evening on a weekday is almost always immediate. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings after 7 PM the most popular restaurants fill up and a 15 to 30-minute wait is normal. Going slightly off-peak — sitting down before 6:30 PM — solves that completely. Ordering is straightforward and identical to any restaurant in Bangkok. Order from the menu at your table, eat, pay direct with cash or card at the end. Most restaurants accept Visa, Mastercard, and Thai QR payment. Typical spend for a full dinner with drinks is ฿400 to ฿800 per person, depending on what you order and which restaurant you choose — closer to ฿400 at the smaller Thai restaurants and casual dining options, closer to ฿800 at the steak houses, seafood specialists, and dedicated dessert restaurants. The ฿100 voucher from your entry ticket is applied to your bill before payment. Hand the voucher to the server when you ask for the cheque, confirm it has been applied, and pay the remaining balance. The voucher is per person and cannot be combined across a table — each guest applies their own ฿100 to the bill or uses it separately at a kiosk earlier in the evening. As you eat, the sky changes. By 6:00 PM the strong afternoon light has softened. By 6:30 PM the first lanterns and fairy lights start coming on across the village. By 7:00 PM the entire street, the lake, and the lighthouse are lit. This is the transition the entire visit is built around — the moment when Chocolate Ville stops being a quiet open-air dining area and becomes the photograph that fills every Bangkok Instagram feed.

    4

The evening lit up — lanterns, LED boat show, photos (7:00–9:00 PM)

From 7:00 PM until the closing midnight hour, the village is at its photographic peak. The fairy lights above the cobbled streets cast warm pools of light onto the pavements. The lighthouse is illuminated in gentle gold. The lake reflects the lights of an LED boat that drifts across the water as part of the daily evening show. The European-style buildings, lit from below, take on the appearance of a film set after dark. This is the second walk. Your dinner is finished. You leave the restaurant and follow the lakefront, then cross the bridge, then walk back through the lighthouse square. The exact same village you arrived at in daylight is now a different place. Most visitors take more photographs in the 90 minutes after sunset than during the entire afternoon. Couples on date nights, families with children, groups of friends — everyone is photographing at the same time, and the village absorbs the activity without ever feeling crowded. The specific shows running through the evening include the snow show at the lighthouse square (artificial snow falling from the rooftops several times an hour after dark), the bubble boat with balloon giveaway for children, the romantic confession boat on the lake (where the boat's driver helps couples deliver short scripted messages), and the LED boat show — the village's signature evening performance where the lit-up boat drifts a route across the lake with synchronised music. Show times are not posted on a strict schedule. Each one runs multiple times through the evening. Walking the village from 7:00 PM onwards, you will pass through several of them naturally. Ice cream kiosks, drink kiosks, and dessert stations stay open through the evening. If you saved your ฿100 entry voucher rather than applying it to dinner, use it here. The popcorn and ice cream kiosks accept the voucher directly. The activity stations — bubble boat tickets, confession boat — accept it toward their fee.

    5

Return to your hotel — when you decide, not when Grab decides (9:00 PM onwards)

When you are ready to leave, you send a WhatsApp message to your driver. Your driver is in the Chocolate Ville car park, on call, throughout the evening. The car park exit is the same direction as the main gate — there is one designated pickup point for private drivers, clearly signposted, and your driver knows exactly where to meet you. From WhatsApp message to vehicle is typically less than five minutes. This is the single most practical reason to book a private transfer instead of arriving by Grab. The Khan Na Yao area has limited Grab coverage after 9 PM. Visitors who arrived by Grab and need to return to central Bangkok routinely wait 30 to 60 minutes for a ride confirmation, or queue at the venue's taxi stand for one of the limited public taxis available. The return journey itself is straightforward — but only if there is a vehicle to make it in. Booking a private driver who waits on-site removes the entire problem and means you leave Chocolate Ville when you are ready, not when an app finally finds you a driver. The drive back to central Bangkok takes 30 to 45 minutes depending on the hour. Evening traffic out of Khan Na Yao is significantly lighter than the afternoon inbound journey, and most return trips run on the lower end of that range. You are back at your hotel between 9:30 PM and 11:00 PM on most evenings, depending on what time you decide to leave. The driver drops you door-to-door at your hotel lobby — no extra walking, no Grab struggle, no end-of-evening stress. The 6 to 8 hour waiting time is included in the ฿2,500 vehicle fee. If you stay longer than 8 hours, please coordinate with the driver via WhatsApp. The pickup time, the wait, the return — one transaction, one fee, one vehicle, your evening.

    Is This Right for You?

Couples on a Bangkok date night

Yes — Chocolate Ville is one of the most popular date-night destinations in Bangkok for visiting couples, and the open-air European village setting at dusk is genuinely the most photogenic dining environment the city offers. The lake, the lighthouse, the fairy lights, and the lit-up cobbled streets at 7 PM are the photographs that travel back to every social feed. Couples typically arrive at 4 PM, walk the village before dinner, eat between 6 and 7:30 PM, and return to their hotel around 9 to 10 PM.

    Families with children

Yes — Chocolate Ville is suitable for all ages including infants and very young children. Strollers can be used on the main cobbled streets (flat surface, no steps). Children are entertained by the snow show at the lighthouse, the bubble parade, the daily LED boat show on the lake, and the open space to walk freely. Restaurant menus include child-friendly options across most venues. Entry for children of all ages is the same ฿150 with the same ฿100 redeemable voucher.

    Photographers and content creators

Yes — Chocolate Ville is built for photography. The European-style buildings, the lake, the lighthouse, the cobbled streets lit by warm fairy lights, the LED boat show, and the daily snow show all photograph extraordinarily well. There are no photo-prohibited areas in the public spaces and no commercial photo packages required. The best photographic window is 6:15 to 6:45 PM as the sky darkens and the lanterns intensify.

Groups of friends or family groups (4 to 9 people)

For groups of 4 to 9, our flat-rate ฿2,500 vehicle pricing works out to ฿278 to ฿625 per person depending on group size — significantly cheaper than per-seat Grab rides for the round trip, and with a driver who waits on-site for the full evening. We assign a private van for groups of 5 or more at the same flat price. Restaurant tables for groups are easier to find before 7 PM — book your evening at the village around the early-evening seating window if your group is six or more.

Visitors who want to add it to Safari World

Yes — Safari World finishes at approximately 4:30 to 5:00 PM and you are already in northeast Bangkok with a private vehicle. We extend the same driver and vehicle to Chocolate Ville for an additional ฿600 transport fee. The driver runs the 15-minute transfer from Safari World to Chocolate Ville, waits while you eat, and returns you to your hotel. The full day from 8:00 AM Safari World pickup to 9:00 PM hotel return is the Bangkok day + evening combination most operators do not offer.

Is Chocolate Ville suitable for solo travellers?

Yes — but the per-vehicle pricing means a solo traveller pays the full ฿2,500 vehicle fee for the round-trip private transfer. For most solo travellers, a Grab to Chocolate Ville (฿250 to ฿400 one way) plus a longer wait for the return ride is cheaper, with the trade-off of the return-journey uncertainty after 9 PM. Solo travellers in a hurry, or those who want a worry-free return to a specific hotel pickup time, still find the private transfer worthwhile.

Is the ฿150 entry fee really worth it — what do you actually get inside?

The ฿150 entry fee is essentially a deposit. ฿100 of it becomes a voucher you spend inside on food, drinks, ice cream, or one of the small activities — applied during the same visit. So your real out-of-pocket entry cost is ฿50 per person. The ฿50 covers access to the entire open-air village, all the daily shows (snow show, bubble parade, LED boat show, daily birthday surprise), and the lit-up evening environment. For families and groups planning to eat dinner inside, the voucher reduces the meal bill, so the effective cost is ฿50 per person — modest for the experience you get.

    What Our Guests Say

"Chatree arranged our SUV pickup at 3 PM sharp from our Sukhumvit hotel. The driver waited the whole evening — we ate, we walked twice, we stayed for the lit-up village photos. Sent him a WhatsApp at 9:15 PM and he was at the gate in three minutes. The honesty on the ฿150 entry fee was refreshing — he explained the ฿100 voucher before we even paid. Easy, no surprises, the photographs are still the best ones from our Bangkok trip."

    S
    Sarah & JamesSydney, AustraliaCouple

"Booked the Safari World + Chocolate Ville combo for the kids. Honestly the best day of our Bangkok holiday. Safari World until 4:30 PM, then the same driver took us to Chocolate Ville for dinner — kids ran around the village for two hours while we ate. The fairy lights at 7 PM were magic. One driver, one vehicle, full day handled. Cannot recommend enough."

    T
    The Khanna FamilyMumbai, IndiaFamily

"We were sceptical about the per-vehicle pricing for two people but the return-journey logic sold us. By 9 PM the Grab availability at Chocolate Ville is essentially zero — we watched other diners standing in the car park trying to get a ride. Our driver was waiting. We were back at our riverside hotel within 35 minutes. Worth every baht for the stress-free evening."

Chocolate Ville is an open-air dining village in Bangkok's Khan Na Yao district — built like a European town with cobbled streets, a lake, a lighthouse, and dozens of independent restaurants under fairy lights. It is not a theme park and there are no rides. It is a dinner destination designed for photography and atmosphere, located approximately 18 kilometres from central Bangkok on Prasert-Manukitch Road.

It is most famous for its lit-up evening environment from around 6:30 PM onwards, the lighthouse square, the daily LED boat show on the lake, and the snow show that runs several times an hour after dark.

The Chocolate Ville entrance fee in 2026 is ฿150 per person on standard days, paid at the gate. ฿100 of that ฿150 is redeemable inside as a voucher — usable during the same visit for food at a restaurant, drinks at a kiosk, ice cream, popcorn, or one of the venue's small activities. Your real out-of-pocket entry cost is ฿50 per person.

Note: peak days (some public holidays and special event nights) charge ฿180 to ฿200 per person — same ฿100 redeemable structure. The standard ฿150 fee applies on the vast majority of visiting days throughout the year.

Chocolate Ville is open every day of the year. Weekday opening hours (Monday to Friday) are 3:00 PM to midnight. Weekend opening hours (Saturday, Sunday, and Thai public holidays) are 2:00 PM to midnight.

The best arrival time is 4:00 PM — late-afternoon light for the first walk, all the daily shows running, dinner timed for the lit-up evening transition from 6:30 PM. Our 3:00 PM hotel pickup is built around this arrival window.

Chocolate Ville is approximately 18 kilometres from central Bangkok in the Khan Na Yao district — outside the BTS and MRT network. The two practical options are a private transfer or Grab.

Our private transfer service includes door-to-door hotel pickup at 3:00 PM, a 30 to 45-minute drive, 6 to 8 hours of driver waiting time on-site at Chocolate Ville, and a return to your hotel any time before midnight — all for ฿2,500 per vehicle (SUV up to 4 pax or van up to 9 pax). The advantage over Grab is the return journey: Grab availability at Chocolate Ville after 9 PM is very limited, and visitors arriving without a return plan routinely wait 30 to 60 minutes for a ride at the end of the evening.

No — restaurant seating at Chocolate Ville is first-come, first-served across all of the village's restaurants and kiosks, and we do not pre-book tables on your behalf. In practical terms this is rarely a problem because the village holds thousands of diners across more than twenty venues and early-evening seating on weekdays is almost always immediate.

On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings after 7:00 PM, the most popular restaurants may have a 15 to 30-minute wait. Sitting down before 6:30 PM avoids this completely — which is one practical reason our 3:00 PM hotel pickup arrives at the village around 4:00 PM, giving you plenty of time to choose your restaurant before the peak seating window.

The best time to arrive at Chocolate Ville is approximately 4:00 PM — late enough that the worst of the afternoon heat has eased, early enough to walk the entire village in daylight before any seating queue starts, and timed for the transition between daylight and the lit-up evening environment from 6:30 PM.

The 6:15 to 6:45 PM window is the village's photographic peak — the sky darkens, the lanterns and fairy lights intensify, and the LED boat show on the lake starts its evening loops. Our 3:00 PM hotel pickup is timed exactly so that you arrive at the gate by 4:00 PM and are sitting down to dinner around 5:30 to 6:30 PM as the village transitions into its lit-up state.

Typical spend for a full dinner with drinks at Chocolate Ville restaurants is ฿400 to ฿800 per person — closer to ฿400 at the casual Thai restaurants and food courts, closer to ฿800 at the steak houses, seafood specialists, and dedicated dessert restaurants. Drinks add approximately ฿80 for non-alcoholic and ฿180 upwards for alcoholic options.

Most restaurants accept Visa, Mastercard, and Thai QR payment. Your ฿100 entry voucher per person can be applied to your restaurant bill — hand it to the server when you ask for the cheque.

Yes — Chocolate Ville is suitable for all ages including infants and young children. Strollers can be used on the main cobbled streets (flat surface, no steps). Children are entertained by the daily snow show at the lighthouse square, the bubble parade, the LED boat show on the lake, and the open space to walk freely between restaurants.

Restaurant menus across the village include child-friendly options. Entry for children of all ages is the same ฿150 with the same ฿100 redeemable voucher applied to ice cream, drinks, or the family meal bill.

Yes — and this is one of our most popular combinations because Safari World and Chocolate Ville are both located in northeast Bangkok, approximately 15 minutes apart by car. Our combo: full Safari World day tour with private vehicle from 8:00 AM, finishing at Safari World around 4:30 to 5:00 PM, then the same driver and vehicle takes you directly to Chocolate Ville for the evening, and returns you to your hotel any time before midnight.

The transport extension from Safari World to Chocolate Ville is +฿600 added to your Safari World private vehicle package. ฿150 Chocolate Ville entry is paid separately at the gate by each guest. WhatsApp +66 89 949 6235 for an exact combo quote — see our Safari World tour page for the base Safari World pricing.

When you pay the ฿150 entry fee at the Chocolate Ville gate, you receive a ticket that includes a ฿100 voucher. The voucher is redeemable during the same visit at any restaurant, drinks kiosk, ice cream stand, or activity station inside the village.

At a restaurant: hand the voucher to your server when you ask for the cheque — they apply ฿100 to your bill. At a kiosk: present the voucher when ordering — used directly toward your purchase. The voucher is per person and cannot be combined across a table. Each guest applies their own ฿100. The voucher expires at the end of the same visit — it cannot be saved for a future trip.

Chocolate Ville is an open-air village so rain affects the experience — but most restaurants have covered seating areas, and the most popular venues are partially enclosed. Bangkok rainy season (May to October) typically brings short, intense afternoon showers rather than full evenings of rain. A 30-minute downpour at 5:00 PM is common; rain through the entire evening is rare.

We do not cancel or refund based on weather. Bring a light umbrella and plan to spend more time inside the covered restaurant sections if the forecast is poor. The lit-up evening environment is just as photogenic with light rain — the wet cobblestones reflect the lanterns. Your driver waits regardless of weather, so your return journey is unaffected.

A cancellation fee of 100% applies if the booking is cancelled 2 days (48 hours) or less before the tour date. For cancellations made more than 2 days in advance, please contact us via WhatsApp to arrange a refund or reschedule.

Unlike OTA join tours, we do not cancel confirmed bookings due to low group numbers. Your private transfer runs as confirmed — you book the vehicle, the vehicle is yours for the evening.
